Freight House Theme

Freight House

Freight House

I have read about different guys who have done amazing things in their basements using a train theme. One guy cut the nose off of a real F7 engine and had it put into the basement, and then built the house on top of it. Another guy used the doorways of a passenger train as the entrance to his train room. I have the idea, now what? How can I hide the bathroom a little bit? I wanted to make it look like a station or a freight house. The freight house seemed the better way to go. My friends Mike and Jay came up with the look. Jay found the window along the road somewhere. It has peeling paint, looks old and will work perfectly. But what do I do now; the window is inline with the sink and toilet? Do I put curtains on the widow; not in a warehouse!  (See my post of November 21st )

Wow!!!!
Wow!!!!

So enter Laura Redding Koeppen, Laura is an artist and she understands weird people like me. I explained that I wanted her to paint either a man doing paperwork in a warehouse or a man with a two wheeled hand truck or just paint barrels and crates on the window. That way when people look at it they will see the inside of a warehouse. Laura took all three ideas and did just that. What a find she is. I now have a freight warehouse in my basement with a window that shows the inside of the warehouse. It is also a great piece of art, signed by the artist, that could be taken out of its frame and hang on a wall. I am so pleased with the way this turned out.

Great work, Mike, Jay and Laura!!!

Cool Sink

It really is a bathroom

It really is a bathroom……That’s a hole for the trains on the left. You will never see it when there is scenery

Hi Andy,

The freight house wall looks great… just as you had described it. Nice work with the sink near the paint booth also. Hope to see you at the GSME again soon.

Laura,
It is so much fun to show people the window. They just stand there in amazement and are always tell me that they have never seen anything like it before. That’s just the way I hoped it would be. Thank you so much for checking in on my project. If you ever need a testimonial for your work, please send them my way; I’ll show them a work of art. Thanks again.
Andy
